FortressCraft2D – Hardcore Zombie Survival

If you’re on the PC you’ll be glad to know that we’ve been working on a sister game for FortressCraft called FortressCraft2D. The game is set in the early FortressCraft universe; FC:Chapter 1 is set a hundred years or more after FC2d. FortressCraft World (not publicly released or playable) is set between the two.

FortressCraft 2D (AKA FC2D) recounts the initial fall of mankind to the Zompocalyse. Future tech abounds, as that’s cool. Shader tech abounds, as that’s AWESOME. Crepuscular rays, normal distortion, real time shadows, tons of physics… just cuz it’s 2d, doesn’t mean it has to be retro. Screw retro. :)

We are keeping the development of this game as open as possible. We have published the design document and it is open to comments we really want to hear from people.

Content Patch 10

That’s right, FortressCraft: Content Patch 10 is now ready for download on your Xbox or via the Marketplace.

Alot of work has in gone in on Spleef mode and it is now pretty complete, people are using it for proper tourneys.

Here is a small list of the major changes that have been made in this patch:

- Fixes for Spleef Mode
- Exiting Spleef always rebuilds
- Fixed Spleef stalemate under poor load conditions
- Fixed Spleef block falling animation
- Added ShowHealth command, to show your health
- Added AutoBalance command, to balance your network speed against player count; this should reduce lag for players greatly, as it doesn’t allow you to have more people than will generate a massive Node queue
- Teleporting now resets your ride object
- 32 player online games

I want a Neoteric Axe!

There are currently two defined ways to unlock this exclusive axe. It is not supposed to be easy. It is not supposed to be something lots of people attain.

IF you think you are one of those few people, then here are the CURRENT ways in which you can earn it :

1) Get a FC-positive Youtube video with over a million views
2) Create a pic that is good enough for the front page. See the link for details. Post your image in the forum (inline, PLEASE!)

The reason we’re doing it like this is simple; we just got over 50 tweets and emails and skype messages with “Is this good enough?”

A few ‘is it good enough’ notes:

IF at all possible, the pic should be only possible in FortressCraft. You guys are way better at pushing this game engine to it’s limits, to do things that truly aren’t possible in other game engines; plenty of customs, plenty of reflective water and things at an angle.

If you have a great world, and no way to take a pic, there are plenty of people who will help you!
